Ulu Bendul Recreational Park was first discovered in 1917 and later popularised as a recreational area by Tuanku Muhammad, the 7th Yamtuan Besar of Seri Menanti, in 1920. Due to the location of the park, it is called Ulu meaning upstream in the local dialect and Bendul meaning barrier because the mountain is regarded as a barrier.
