Sabah Art Gallery
The Sabah Art Gallery is a unique building. Shaped like a 'basket', the gallery has decorative cultural motif panels that depict the indigenous people of Sabah. It is also a green building and it was the first in Borneo to win the silver accreditation from the Green Building Index Accreditation Panel in 2012.

The Sabah Art Gallery is a unique building. Shaped like a 'basket', the gallery has decorative cultural motif panels that depict the indigenous people of Sabah. It is also a green building and it was the first in Borneo to win the silver accreditation from the Green Building Index Accreditation Panel in 2012.
The gallery was established in 1984 to collect, store, preserve, interpret and exhibit both the local and foreign works of art. Since its inauguration until 2017, the gallery has acquired more than 3,000 pieces of art works in its permanent collection. These art works are in the form of paintings, carvings, sculptures and installations, mostly by local artists.
Monthly exhibitions, weekly workshops, occasional seminars and competitions are frequently held at the gallery. There are two new gallery space in the new building that showcases various art pieces with different themes from local and international artists.
The gallery holds more than 12 exhibitions every year to showcase new artists, new themes and new approaches in art. The Sabah Art Gallery is “the place” to visit for all art aficionados.
