Kuala Perlis, located on the north-western tip of Peninsular Malaysia, is the main seaport of Perlis. The port has grown from a fishing village into a modern town with commercial areas comprising financial institutions, hotels, government departments, restaurants and retail outlets.

Being the second largest town in the state of Perlis, Kuala Perlis is located near the Malaysia-Thailand border. The older part of Kuala Perlis still has houses and mosques built on stilts over the mangrove swamps.  It is famous for its seafood.

Kuala Perlis is the main ferry terminal for the Langkawi - Perlis ferries. Hence you can board a ferry to and fro these two locations. It is only a few kilometres away from the Thai town of Satun but is separated by national parks on both sides of the border.
