Jalan Wong Ah Fook

Located in the central business district, Jalan Wong Ah Fook is the busiest street at the heart of Johor Bahru city. The street was named after a Chinese developer, Wong Ah Fook who was a Chinese businessman who migrated to Singapore in 1854 to establish his building construction business. He later founded Johor Bahru together with Temenggung Daeng Ibrahim in 1855.

There are many businesses along Jalan Wong Ah Fook with some of which that have been there for decades. There are more than ten good and reasonably priced food outlets and numerous attractions which include shopping malls and temples.

There is also a night market which is called Jalan Wong Ah Fook night market which operates from 6pm to 12 midnight on weekdays and from 7pm till 2am on Saturdays. The night market sells almost everything from food to clothing. From vintage to second hand and branded new items. There are even pets for sale. The night market is always busy, crowded and interesting.
