Penang Dragon Boat Regatta 2024: New Venue, New Excitement!

The highly anticipated Penang International Dragon Boat Regatta 2024 is set to take place this weekend at the Straits Quay waters, marking many firsts and exciting changes.

The regatta will bring together over 1,600 participants from 61 teams representing 12 countries and regions, including China, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Japan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines, Chinese Taipei, and Malaysia.

Since the 1990s, this event has traditionally been held at Teluk Bahang Dam. This year, the organizers, considering that dragon boat races abroad are traditionally held at sea, decided to shift the event to Straits Quay Marina. Additionally, its proximity to a shopping mall offers families and visitors a comfortable space to watch the race.
