Step into the world of Korean pottery in this immersive 3-hour taster class, designed to introduce beginners and enthusiasts to fundamental Korean wheel throwing techniques. This workshop provides a hands-on, guided experience that offers a taste of our 12-lesson (week) program, allowing you to explore unique techniques, develop basic skills, and craft your own pieces.
In this class, you will:
Get an introduction to spiral wedging, a foundational technique for preparing clay;
Throw on a small hump to create the traditional Sabal bowl form, using methods unique to Korean pottery;
Try your hand at Gwiyal brush decoration on your bowl, exploring textural and decorative possibilities;
Take home up to two Sabal bowls, depending on your success, as a keepsake of your experience.
Your instructor, Cindy Koh, brings over two decades of experience in pottery. She is dedicated to guiding students through hands-on Korean wheel-throwing techniques while sharing her insights into the art form. Having trained with renowned potter Master Kwak, Cindy combines technical skill with a passion for teaching, making each class both informative and inspiring.
