The legendary KAR Ultra, Sabah’s premier ultra-trail running event, returns in 2026 with a more ambitious lineup and a renewed spirit of adventure. Taking place in the breathtaking Kadamaian Valley at the foot of Mount Kinabalu, this event promises to push boundaries, test endurance, and celebrate the true essence of trail running.

A Challenge for Every Runner:

This year, KAR Ultra introduces new categories designed to challenge every level of trail runner:

100 Miles (160KM) Ultra of The Ultras — The ultimate endurance test for ultra of the ultras or elite athletes ready to conquer sleepless nights and endless climbs.

80KM Ultra Trail — A new addition for 2026, designed for experienced runners seeking a demanding yet achievable ultra-distance challenge.

35KM Trail Run, and 12KM Beginner Trail Run — For those wanting to experience the magic of Kadamaian’s trails at their own pace.

6KM Fun & Recovery Run — A relaxed and enjoyable course ideal for families, beginners, or participants recovering from longer distances — a chance to soak in the Kadamaian beauty at an easier pace.

The Adventure Awaits:

Each category leads runners deep into Sabah’s wild landscapes through dense rainforests, across clear rivers, and up the steep slopes of Bukit Bogung, where the terrain demands both strength and determination. Along the way, participants will witness the natural wonder of Kadamaian Valley, framed by the towering majesty of Mount Kinabalu, axx UNESCO World Heritage Site.
