Mount Sadung, whose terrain registered at approximately 728m above sea level, is a landmark for the Bidayuhs living in the Bukar area in Serian, some 70km from Kuching. It is known to possess the highest summit in the area, so much so that even a surveying team had once visited the peak to gather bearings and coordinates for the nearby mountains.

The summit or how locals termed it “Bung Sadung”, served as a trigonometrical station which is a fixed surveying station, used in geodetic surveying and other surveying projects in its vicinity. An old trig point displaying the year 1993 and a not-so-visible carving of the bearings lies on the grassy plains, the only small open area on the summit. Folk called this equipment ‘santing’ and the name soon caught on to describe the mountain’s summit.

“Producing an excellent, glorious and distinguished society”. To realize this motto, we as the Youth, Sports and Recreation Bureau of JKKK Kg Bunga would like to organize a program based on sports and recreation known as the “Bung Sadung Trek Climbing Challenge 2025”. “Bung” means the peak of the mountain where climbers are required to reach the highest peak of Mount Sadung at an altitude of 728 meters above sea level. In an effort to introduce eco-tourism for the mountains in the Serian Division and encourage mountaineering activities among youth, JKKK Kg Bunga will organize the Bung Sadung Climbing Challenge program. This program is a mountain climbing competition according to the route set by the organizer in addition to leisurely trekking through the forest track through the ‘fun hike’ category.
