The first World Olympic Day was held with a total of nine National Olympic Committees (NOC) hosting ceremonies in their respective country. The World Olympic Day celebration is the idea of celebrating this auspicious day by organizing events to raise the awareness of the public to love sport and to carve the Olympian spirit in their hearts.

Olympic Day is much more than just a sport event, it is a day for the world to get active, learn and cultivate the Olympic Values. Penang is given the privilege by the Olympic Council of Malaysia this year to host this auspicious event right here in the Pearl of the Orient throughout the month of June 2019.
This inaugural event – The Olympic Carnival Penang 2019 – is organized by the Olympic Council of Malaysia and co-organized by the Penang State Government and the Penang State Sports Council.
HIGHLIGHTS!
The Olympic Carnival Penang 2019 will host a total of 4 sports, namely Badminton, Tenpin Bowling, Sepaktakraw and Volleyball throughout the month of June while culminating with the highlight of the Olympic Carnival Penang 2019 Family Fun Walk with exciting events, activities, lucky draws and celebration lined up on the 23 June 2019, the actual World Olympic Day, at The Esplanade, Padang Kota Lama, Penang!

The Olympic Carnival Penang 2019 features 4 sports. Athletes compete in their own age group and category – competitive, recreational or social. So the event is for everyone – regardless if you are a serious competitor or joining for fun.
Just like the Olympic, there are opening and closing ceremonies, and medals are awarded for the podium finishers in all events.
